The First Flight Wind Offshore Wind Project
On the 10th October 2012, The Crown Estate announced that First Flight Wind had been selected to develop an offshore wind farm off the south east coast of County Down.
Subject to obtaining all necessary consents from the Department of Environment and the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment, the project could supply up to 600MW of electrical power by 2020, that could be capable of meeting up to a fifth of Northern Ireland’s electricity requirements.
The First Flight Wind consortium has been established specifically to develop this offshore wind energy project. It comprises B9 Energy, DONG Energy and RES.
